The Future is Now: Cnario 4.0 Arrives with a Bang!

Get ready to pop the confetti, because the moment we’ve all been eagerly anticipating is finally here! Remember all those whispers about the sleek, new web interface that replaced Media-Manager? Well, consider that phase 1. We’ve been tirelessly toiling away behind the scenes, and now, the pièce de résistance has landed: The new LivePlayer with support for all Operating Systems!

We’re not just excited; we’re practically doing celebratory backflips over here. This isn’t just an update; it’s a digital transformation, introducing a tidal wave of fantastic features directly into the heart of Cnario. From supporting a ridiculously diverse ecosystem of platforms (Windows, Android, LG WebOS, Samsung Tizen, Linux, Brightsign, ChromeOS, and even more, because we like to spoil you with options!), to a shiny new distribution methodology leveraging the power of HTTPS and WebSockets, and even a robust template workflow for crafting custom media assets and widgets right within the CMS – it’s all here.

For those who crave every delicious detail, you can devour the full release notes. But for the rest of you, buckle up, because I’m about to give you the high-level tour of some of our favorite new toys. And remember, if anything sparks a question, a brilliant idea, or even a casual “hello,” don’t hesitate to reach out! You can always start with me at iAviram@ycdmultimedia.com.

Unpacking the Goodies: What’s New and Oh-So-Awesome in 4.0?

Let’s dive into just a few of the stellar improvements that will make your content management life significantly easier (and dare we say, more fun?):

  • Live Players? We Got ‘Em All!

Now, the Cnario Suite embraces all LivePlayer “flavors” as seamless channels within your regular Cnario workflow. Layouts, Windows, Playlists, Playback Rules, Schedule, Deployments, Snapshots – it’s all one happy family. No more distinguishing, just pure, unadulterated content flow. You’re welcome.

  • Direct Control: Because Who Doesn’t Love Being in Charge?

Ever dreamt of having your displays bend to your will? Well, now you can! We’ve integrated Samsung’s and LG’s “device control” protocols, allowing the Cnario Suite to control display power (on/standby/off) and input changes. Even better, it can monitor and report back on their status. It’s like having a digital butler for your screens, and frankly, it’s pretty amazing.

  • Web UI: More Power, Less Fuss!

We’ve beefed up the web UI with some highly requested media assets, including the RSS item and a full-featured network module. This means no more side quests to Messenger for those tasks – isn’t that just splendid?

  • HTML Widget Workflow: The Old, The New, The Improved!

The beloved Widget workflow from RAMP and Messenger has officially moved into its swanky new home in the WebUI (again, Messenger, we loved you, but it’s time to move on!). But it’s not just a relocation; it’s a drastic upgrade. Now, both UP and LP players can access keywords and other properties of the canvas, channel, and player the content is running on. This makes content management so much easier, you might just shed a tear of joy.

  • API: Your Playground for Limitless Possibilities!

True to form, we’ve gone wild with API improvements and additions in this version, covering both server-side and player-side. And here’s the kicker: our own WebUI is built on the very same API we document and make available upon request. This means the possibilities for automation are truly limitless – from complete content management (creation, upload, schedule, position, distribute, verify) to full automation of monitoring and control. Go on, dream big!

  • Audit Log: Accountability Just Got an Upgrade!

By popular demand (you asked, we delivered!), every single action, task, or API call handled by the Cnario Server is now diligently saved into the audit log. This little gem will be an absolute lifesaver for your IT team when those pesky issues inevitably decide to pop up.

  • Infrastructure: The Unsung Heroes!

While it might not be the flashiest news, a ton of serious work went on under the hood of Cnario. We’ve updated .Net, incorporated the latest CEF, added newer codec support, and more! It’s all about ensuring your Cnario experience is as smooth, stable, and future-proof as possible.

Phew! That’s just a taste of what Cnario 4.0 brings to the table. Believe me, there are plenty more features, additions, and fixes to gush about, but I need to save something for the next blog post, right?
